Never Enough Time

Where does the time seem to go?  Top things to keep in mind when it comes to time management

  • There are only 24 hrs in a day and you need to decide how you are going to use that time (prioritize what needs to get done).
  • If you already do a good job at setting up your schedule but find that you don’t get things done address the factors that interfere.

These factors could be:

On Campus Student Support

The following is a list of Student Support Units on campus.  Many are in the University of Michigan's Student Life.

Career Center
The Career Center assists students from all academic units with their career exploration, job search skill development and interest in advanced educational opportunities.

Finding Your Community Provider

Finding community providers for mental health can be complicated.  CAPS would like to make this process as easy as possible.  We encourage you to follow along with the video, or check out our information below.  If you have any difficulty or get stuck in any way, please reach out to CAPS.

For those who would like to use health insurance:

Manage Election-Related Stress Information

Engaging with the democratic process can be meaningful, but it can also be exhausting with heightened emotion and stress. We want to encourage you to regularly check-in with what you are experiencing, and develop a self-care plan that works for you. While this election season can present unique stressors, it is also an opportunity to practice important life skills including how to deal with difficult emotions and circumstances.

Pace yourself and manage your resources. This process will last for months during an already busy Fall semester.

For Those Who Don't Have Insurance Or Don't Know

I'm not sure if I have health insurance

First, ask your family. Families can have their children on their health insurance until they turn 26 years old. If your family tells you that you don’t have health insurance through them, then it’s almost certain that you don’t have health insurance. Why?

2015-16 Annual Report - Text Only

University of Michigan Counseling and Psychological Services 2015-16 Annual Report

A Message from the Director Thank you from Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) for your help and your role in supporting the mental health of our UM students. With all of us joining and working together we have accomplished great things - - the whole is truly greater than the sum of all parts. What you helped us accomplish this year:

Transitioning to a Former Student Athlete

Most student athletes have participated in their sport for the majority of their lives. Being an athlete has most likely become a part of your identity. But what happens when that final whistle blows and that final game is over? For many, this transition to a former student athlete feels like a loss in identity, and unfortunately, this transition is not often prepared for. With fewer than 1% of college athletes becoming professional athletes, this adjustment is something that should be talked about.

Relationship Counseling

Relationship counseling is appropriate for any group (2 or more) people who wish to receive support navigating relationship issues/concerns. Those who enter relationship counseling do so for a number of personal reasons. A counselor can work with partners to determine what their goals might be for treatment.  Many times partners in a romantic relationship experience times of disconnection. Each transition that relationships encounter is often met with its own set of difficulties.
