Why Am I A Peer Counselor

Mental health was a neglected concern as I grew up in my rural community. Stigmatization, discrimination, and inaccessibility often surrounded the process of receiving mental health support. Reflecting on this experience, I am excited to be part of an inclusive program that destigmatizes and welcomes the conversation of mental health. As a Peer Counselor, I hope to support student mental health by providing students an accepting space to talk through their concerns and by connecting students to further resources.
