When Can I Be Seen?

A Brief Note About "Wait Time"

We work hard every day to address the high demand for CAPS services between mid-August-mid May by offering a range of clinical services designed to meet your needs. We are also aware that different students prefer and benefit from different types of service(s); that's why we offer eight ways to receive clinical services. Some services have a wait time, and some do not.

Urgent/ Crisis Services:

There is no wait and no appointment needed for Urgent/Crisis Services. If you are in a crisis or have an urgent need to be seen, our Counselor on Duty can meet with you between 10AM-6PM Monday-Thursday or 10AM-4PM on Friday during the Fall and WInter semsters.

Daily Common Concerns Meetings:

There is no wait and no appointment needed to attend a Common Concerns meeting. These sessions meet every Monday through Thursday from 4:15 pm.m -5:30 p.m. at CAPS during fall and winter semesters on days when classes are in session.

Referral and Case Management Services:

Our case manager can help a student decide what type of service is needed, either at CAPS or elsewhere on campus or in Ann Arbor, so we’ve added extra ‘referral’ appointments during these next 3 weeks. Just call the front desk (734.764.8312) for more information.

Individual Counseling:

The availability of First Appointments for Individual Counseling changes every day. That's why we update this page every day.

We want to acknowledge that at times any length of wait for an appointment might be difficult, that's why we offer multiple ways to access services:

Initial Appointment for
Individual Counseling

  • Current wait time is:
    2 business days.
    Next Appointment On:
    Wednesday, May 29, 2013
Updated: 1 hour 57 min ago

Please Note: Given the time of the semester, initiating individual on-going counseling may not be possible.  Please review this page and/or check with our front desk for options that best fit your current needs.

Wait time for initial appointment noted above in box. Once the first appointment occurs, there is no waiting period after that (vs. some healthcare places that get you in quickly, but then make you wait after that).

Psychiatric Services:

To access CAPS psychiatric services, you need to first make an appointment with a CAPS counselor. The counselor will assess your situation and if a medication evaluation is therapeutically appropriate and/or recommended, the counselor will assist you in next steps.  The wait is generally 1-2 weeks for psychiatric services, with urgent appointments available.
