Why Am I a Peer Counselor: Mental health destigmatization has always been one of my greatest passions. I am a peer counselor because I strongly believe in the power of authentic human connection; loneliness is more than the physical absence of other people, it’s the sense you aren’t sharing anything that really matters. College can be incredibly stressful and it's easy to feel alone and overwhelmed by your struggles. As a peer counselor, I want to hold space for my peers to share what’s on their mind, feel validated, and know that they aren’t alone.
