When working with students, I utilize a strength-based approach in which I integrate interpersonal and cognitive approaches with mindfulness-based interventions. I view students in the context of a multicultural framework which acknowledges that students have been and are constantly being influenced by the sociopolitical climate around them. I strive to collaboratively work with students to create a safe and empathic environment, enabling students to explore how the past has shaped them and how it continues to affect their choices in the present. Instead of automatically responding to their environment, this increased self-awareness empowers students to interact to situations and with others in a way that is truly reflective of their values and goals.
Approach to Wellness:
I love spending time with close family and friends, engaging in creative hobbies like painting, cooking, or writing, and being physically active by swimming, taking walks, practicing yoga, or playing tennis. I also remind myself to engage in mindfulness throughout the day, whether that is by eating mindfully or taking a few moments out of my day to find inspiration in nature.
