Approach to Therapy:
My approach to therapy can best be described as integrative - both in how I understand client concerns and in my use of intervention. I enjoy leaning on Emotion-Focused and Interpersonal theories, along with here-and-now and experiential treatments. Additionally, I often incorporate psychoeducation and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) principles. If we have the pleasure of working together, know that I am always keeping in mind multicultural factors, biology and the systems we are a part of.
Approach to Wellness:
In my application to CAPS, I wrote that I aim to help my clients achieve balance. Little did I know that most staff members here appreciate cultivating balance in their lives! As such, I consider my day-to-day wellness as a pie chart split into different categories of equal importance and significance. Keeping some semblance of balance between all of them is how I achieve my own personal wellness over time. Some things and activities I enjoy to help me do this include organizing my schedule, engaging in exercise on a regular basis, watching reality television, window shopping online and spending quality time with my loved ones.
