Why Am I a Peer Counselor: I am a peer counselor because I know how much I would have valued such a program when I was an underclassman. Coming from a smaller high school, the transition into college was rough for me and I used to struggle a lot with loneliness, isolation, and finding motivation. Given the coronavirus pandemic and everything that came along with it, these kinds of problems have only been amplified among the student body and there is an even greater need for these kinds of mental health resources. Being a peer counselor gives me an opportunity to provide students with the support they need to manage life during these challenging times and to make the absolute most out of their college experience.
