Approach to Therapy:
To create a nonjudgmental environment that supports individuals with accurate empathy in their own journey of the change process. Possession of both a psychology and social work theoretical background helps to balance the use of different clinical understanding and techniques. Belief in the relationship or connection created between individuals and therapists supports the ability to uncover trauma and requires the pragmatic need for solutions that fit the unique needs of individuals. Foundations of theory include strength-based (Carl Rogers), Freudian Free Association talk therapy, Psychodynamic theory, and Family Systems approach. This foundation is very important to my support of individuals with accurate empathy, normalization, reduction of barriers, and advocacy of individual interaction with governing systems.
Approach to Wellness:
Life balance is personally encouraged on a daily basis. Falling short as a human being with flaws, I am very self-aware that this is a constant battle in self-discipline and interaction between the environment and relationships. It is important to set realistic expectations and goals for this wellness. Self-care goals are very important to prevent burnout, compassion fatigue, and desensitization to the population I serve. It is very important to me to be able to advocate and strive for our systems to be aware of the reinforcement of wellness for individuals and families facing many challenges.
Supervisory Style:
My approach to supervision is collaborative, and supportive of feedback that helps to inspire what each professional brings to the creative relationships with this process.
