Approach to Outreach:
Being out on campus and in the community among students is where I feel a lot of energy exchange, and thus a higher sense of purpose. Coming up to CAPS for the first time and asking for help can be a daunting thing for someone who is already struggling, and outreach is the most tangible way we can reach individuals outside of a clinical therapy session. By witnessing and participating in outreach “interventions” with students in all our different ways of being, I hope to help demystify mental health services.
Approach to Wellness:
Wellness is a factor of available time and bandwidth to devote to self, agency, and overall access to comforts, social support, and amenities. There is privilege, or inequality, underneath the abundance or lack of any of those items. In my individual wellness practice, some of the ways I recharge are through walking meditation, expressing creativity through music and fiber arts, and leaning on trusted friends and family for social and emotional support. When I am able to rest in these ways, I am better able to focus and show up for others and the community with my full presence
