CAPS meets weekly, provides trainings, and collaborates with Wolverine Support Network.
- Wolverine Support Network is a student organization dedicated to promoting the emotional well being of students and creating a supportive campus community united against the stigmas of mental health issues.
- WSN establishes peer-to-peer support groups in which students provide support to one another, have conversations about mental health-related topics, and engage in healthy wellness activities. Students who are interested in being a leader or member can sign up here.
- WSN also provides bi-weekly Kickback Friday events that consist of stress relieving activities to promote wellness. These events are listed HERE.
WSN held its first group meetings starting in January 2015 and the groups have been a great success with positive feedback from both members and facilitators. CAPS has been collaborating with WSN by providing weekly trainings. These are currently provided by CAPS Staff Psychologist, Lucas Henke, Psy.D., who is the CAPS liaison for WSN. The training sessions thus far have focused on dealing with challenging peer group dynamics, facilitator skill building, and supporting stress management. The training sessions are also a place for WSN Leaders to share ideas and successes, discuss any urgent concerns that come up in groups, and become more familiar with campus resources.
All members of the University of Michigan student community are welcome to join Wolverine Support Network. CAPS looks forward to continue to collaborate with WSN and to see WSN grow and to reach even more students in the future, so we hope you spread the word throughout our campus community about all that WSN has to offer!
