On October 1, 2015 a shooting occurred at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, OR. The details of the event are still being revealed, as the investigation remains ongoing. We extend our support to the campus community in Oregon, including all students, staff, faculty, and all those affected by this tragic event. We understand the deaths of these students may have triggered intense emotions, which is common and to be expected after a distressing occurrence.
CAPS encourages you to be aware of these intense emotions as this can have an impact on mental well-being. During these times, it is most important for us to unite as a community by reaching out for support as well as extending support to others. CAPS staff is available to meet with you on an urgent, walk-in basis if any student needs to talk about their struggle or reactions to this tragic and violent event.
