Emotional Wellness is a proactive and positive approach to living that increases resiliency to stress by promoting life balance and contentment. True psychological wellbeing is an ongoing, ever changing process that is unique for each individual. Our wellness philosophy at CAPS affirms the multifaceted needs of the "whole student", including the mental, social, spiritual and other aspects of self. We believe a holistic approach to understanding student experience is critical to providing optimal emotional wellness services at CAPS.

How do U-M students define “mental health wellness”?
Mental health wellness is an essential component for overall wellbeing. It is one’s emotional and psychological state where one feels healthy, strong, and stable
Being able to live life with joy and positive intention, and having a resilience to deal with stressors
Being able to focus on the present task, whether it be homework, exercise, going out with friends, or sleeping, without stressing out over tasks you are not able to complete in the present moment.
Having a blanched, peaceful state of mind.
